Coming to a Neighborhood Near You?

Under the pretense of rooting out crime, drug cartels, and illegal aliens,” more than 300 federal officers, including ICE, ATF, and others, launched a raid at 1:00 AM Tuesday on a 5-story apartment building on the south side of Chicago.  Using helicopters, snipers repelled onto the roof.  Breaking down doors, residents, including children, some naked were routed out of the building, thrown into unmarked vans and driven off.

As a result of this “action,” all but 37 persons were released. In another “action” in Elgin, a suburb, militarized agents in an action personally overseen by Kristi Noem, using flash grenades, similar behavior occurred.  Guess shooting her dog wasn’t enough.

The only difference between these assaults and war in Iraq is that the residents routed out weren’t shot on sight.  The Chicago apartments were ransacked and agents left broken windows.  Looked a little like Ukraine. Many U.S. citizens were dragged out and detained as well.  What happens next?

Prayer for the Day

Like the Psalmist, we cry for help when assaulted,

   But there is none and those who destroy our homes go free;

Staggering under violence from our own government,

   We wonder where or how to find recourse.

Help us, O God, lest we, too, are dragged out in such fashion,

    Unable to have protection from such violence.

In the name of the One assaulted by kings and potentates,

   Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.

Thoughts for the Day

These were families with their children escorted out in the middle of the night. This administration is using PR efforts to try to turn communities against their neighbors.

They didn’t tell me why I was being detained. They left people’s doors open, firearms, money, whatever, right there in the open.

        Roderick Johnson, US citizen, Army veteran, dragged out at 2 AM

O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me;

    Many are saying to me, “There is no help for you in God.:

Rise up, O Lord!  Deliver me, O my God!

   For you strike all my enemies on the cheek

     For you break the teeth of the wicked.

            Psalm 5:1,7
