Weekend in Old Monmouth was a wonderful success. We had more than 50 visitors who came to learn about the history of the church, the importance f religious freedom -- New Jersey was one of only three colonies that had total freedom of religion -- no religious test -- thanks to the Baptist heritage of soul liberty -- freedom of conscience . People viewed out historic cemetery where Revolutionary War heroes are buried.
The next event will be a musical celebration of American history through Boadway music on Sunday June 14 at 2 PM, followed by a reception. Entitled "Of Thee I Sing," tickets will be available through eventbrite and following the presentation, you will have a chance to speak with Broadway stars. Do't miss it!
It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce the death of the Rev. Elizabeth Congdon. Long a member of Old First, she died Tuesday. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 128 Centre Street, Trenton, on Monday May 18. This was the church she served for many years where she instituted programs to help refugees as well as the Trenton community.
