Guns. Not just guns, but high powered rifles. They are the weapons of choice used by persons who intend to kill. Yesterday it was an attack on an ICE facility in Dallas; earlier this week, killing three police officers in Pennsylvania, and two weeks ago, at a Catholic church in Minnesota. But do our so-called leaders question the right of anyone to have such a weapon? Of course not, claiming the Second Amendment protects such a right.
Talk about weapons of mass destruction! And who was it who said what a shame a few children must die to protect this right? What absolute insanity. The only thing these guns are good for is hunting people. They are weapons designed to kill people.
So-called red flag laws don’t work. You can still buy these weapons on the internet. And the courts don’t help, either, not to mention divisive political rhetoric. There is no reason why anyone needs to have such a weapon, but politicians cower before the gun lobby, even after several of their own were shot. One must really wonder.
Prayer for the Day
So blind and unaware of our sin that permits violence,
Indeed, encourages it by our reliance on guns,
We come to you, O God, asking forgiveness;
But we know that repentance is required by us,
Which would make us put away such weapons,
Something we are unwilling to do.
Transform us, O Lord, into a people who seek peace,
Not the violence that comes with anger.
In the nameof the One who calls us to peace,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
If arming more people meant that we would be safer, we would be the safest country on earth

The way of peace they do not know; and there is no justice in their paths,
Their roads they have made crooked, no one who walks in them knows peace.
Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us,
We wait for light, and lo! There is darkness. For brightness, but we walk in gloom.
