As I was getting ready to go to bed last night, I read that the EPA is repealing a rule that limits greenhouse gas emissions from power plants saying that his will save us money in electricity bills. Power plants are our second largest source of carbon dioxide pollution resulting in all kinds of health related breathing issues. The problem is that humans are supposed to breathe oxygen.
The EPA in its release stated that the elimination of greenhouse gas emission standards would save $310 billion over the next 20 years. For whom? Certainly not for the people who live near smoke spewing power plants and suffer major medical issues because of the grit emitted, but, not to worry for plant owners who make out very well in this deal. Honestly now, what else would you expect?
In separate moves, the EPA has sought to weaken controls on toxic pollution, such as mercury and particulate matter. Polluting company executives have applauded the moves since forcing them to keep the air clean would have cost them billions rom their already swollen profits.
Prayer for the Day
The morning air, cool and seemingly pristine,
Reminds us of your gift of life, O God;
The sunrise, peach pink with clear beauty,
Tells us of your creation, O Lord.
Hold us to keeping your skies clear and clean.
Giving us life and breath on his late summer morning
In the name of the One who shares his liewith us,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen
Thoughts for the Day
With more coal and gas being burned to power data centers, the impacts of this rollback will hit particularly hard in states like Texas, Georgia, Ohio, and Arizona where developers are racing to take advantage of this pro-polluter EPA.
Zealan Hoover, former EPS official
If the U.S. power sector were its own country, it would rank as the world’s fifth-largest emitter of climate pollution. American families will pay the price of this rollback in dirtier air and higher health care bills, while Trump’s fossil fuel donors rake in higher and higher profits.

You felt secure in your wickedness; you said, “no one sees me.”
Your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray,
And you said in your eart “I am and there is no one besides me.”
But evil shall come upon you, which you cannot charm away;
Disaster shall fall upon you, which you will not be able to ward off;
And ruin shall come on you suddenly, of which you know nothing.
Isaiah 47: 10-11.
