ICE Bombing in Huntington Park

If you didn’t see it, you wouldn’t hve believed it.  ICE agents, dressed in military fatigues set explosives at the front door of a house where a mother and her two children lived. It made Huntington Park, CA, look like Fallujah, Iraq.  Looking for one unarmed man who was not even in the house, they used drones to search room to room.

The mother and her very young children, one still needing to be carried, were not hurt but terribly shaken; the house is pretty badly damaged.  Not finding who they were looking for, they just got into their vehicle and drove off. They didn’t even have the decency to secure medical help should they have hurt the occupants, all citizens.

The Huntingdon Park mayor, needless to say, was pretty upset. No explanation, just a bunch of idiots terrorizing a neighborhood and leaving a house in a mess.  With tactics like these, someone is going to get killed. And will ICE and the Supreme Commander care?  Any deaths will counted as only “collateral damage.”

Prayer for the Day

Like the Psalmist, we cry, “Where are you, O God?”

As we see our neighbors made victims by our own government.

Was it like this in ancient times, the time of kings and princes,

As our people have their houses attacked without cause?

Rouse us, O Lord, so we do not live with such tyranny,

Shake us so we do not tolerate such lawlessness!

In the name of the One who is with us in our struggle for justice,

Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen

Thoughts for the Day

If they would've knocked on my door I would have opened the door, but they blew up the window and door first. There didn't have to be that violence to enter my house.

Where they broke the window, my baby was there and before I got him out of there was when it exploded. My ears went blank, I imagine how they felt. They were shaking

Jenny Ramirez, mother whose door was blown open

They were right here with their rifles and we heard some screaming up in the front but we couldn't see because everything was blocked, but it was pretty shocking.

Lourdes Salazar, neighbor.

All of you who were found were captured, though they had fled far away.

   Therefore I said: Look away from me, let me weep bitter tears;

Do not try to comfort me for the destruction of my beloved people.
