Well, it didn’t snow again last night as initially predicted, a relief for those of us who are wondering if we will ever see spring, which is supposed to arrive in a few weeks. The weather forecasters tell us we will have some warm days punctuated by cold days with—guess what? More snow, though not as overwhelming like this last storm.
What we are getting on our corners that have only been partially dug out, is slush, especially in urban areas. And sometimes it’s really difficult to walk over the slush. As the snow piles on corners make it difficult to see oncoming traffic, we try to be extra careful. Even the raccoons are treading carefully.
Although the weather in Gaza is not as cold as ours, mostly in the 60s during the day, but when you’re living in a tent or a partially destroyed building without heat, it’s pretty cold and when it rains, it’s pretty awful. The UN and a few other groups are delivering aid, but it is a pittance compared to the need. Imagine trying to feed around 2 million refugees who still face violence from IDF soldiers. During this time of Lent, we cannot forget those who still suffer and struggle to survive. We cannot look away.
Prayer for the Day
Caught between the cradle and the cross, we seek direction, O God,
For we often do not know how best to serve you as we should;
Trapped by our inward desire for comfort and tranquility, we hesitate,
For we fear what may be demanded if we try to follow you.
Be ever with us, O Lord, as we strive to be your disciples,
And show us how to witness to your kingdom of justice and peace.
In the name of the One who is the model of our lives,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
The United Nations said that its teams attempted to coordinate eight humanitarian missions on Friday and five were fully facilitated. The remaining three – which included a mission to reach a water treatment plant in Khan Younis – were denied by Israel.

Happy whose way is blameless, who walk in the Lord’s teaching.
Happy are those who keep God’s precepts, with a whole heart they seek God.
