A short time ago conspiracy promoter-in-chief Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that to ask her about her vaccination records violated her “HIPAA rights.” Other than the fact that she obviously has o idea what HIPAA is about, one suspects that she, like other members of Congress, were vaccinated while she is pushing the idea that vaccination should not be mandatory. Of course, had she not been vaccinated as an infant against certain deadly childhood diseases, we probably wouldn’t have her around touting all her nonsense.
Her Congressional District has the eighth lowest vaccination rate in the Nation. Last week a five-year old in her district died of Covid. Although that child could not be vaccinated, the adults who gave the illness to the child could have been.
Asked if she felt any responsibility due to her outspoken opposition to vaccination, face masks, and the danger of Covid, her response was, “You crack me up. You know what? I think people’s responsibility is their own.” Talk about beyond the pale. Words cannot describe how awful, truly awful such a comment is.
Prayer for the Day
We know, O God of justice, what is required of us, yet we falter;
We know, O God of mercy, what we need to do, yet we hesitate;
We see the evil in the world around and use helplessness as an excuse,
But you tug at our sleeves and call us to respond.
Move us, O Holy Spirit, beyond the excuses we create:
So we may live faithfully according to your Gospel.
We ask this in the name of him who calls us to justice,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen
Thoughts for the Day
Memories saturate my heart and
the story of you spills from my eyes.
Grace Andren, Speaking in Tears: The Poetry of Grief
There are words like ‘orphan’, ‘widow’ and ‘widower’ in all languages. But there is no word in any language to describe a parent who loses a child. How does one describe the pain of ‘ultimate bereavement?
Neena Verma, “A Mother’s Cry”
I am poured out like water ad all my bones are out of joint,
My heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast.
