He was one of us, a Jersey boy who wanted to do nothing more than to be a cop at the U.S. Capitol, but thanks to the rioters on January 6, he died as a result of the injuries he suffered that day after he was attacked by a violent mob determined to overthrow a fair election. And now his murderers have been pardoned.
Pardoned by a President who claims he stands for law and order, there is no justice for not only Brian but for the others officers who were injured that day, some seriously. And what did several of those pardoned say when absolved of their crimes? They’re going out to buy guns, now no longer prohibited because of their convictions.
What can we say to Brian’s family, or to the others? How can we say we believe in penalties for crimes when a mass pardon just wipes away such terrible violence? Not much, unfortunately, when a President who has sworn to uphold the Constitution breaks his oath the very first day in office. Disgusting, truly disgusting.
Prayer for the Day
Searching for the light, O God, often we find only the shadows,
Failing to do the good we mean to do wet acquiesce to evil;
Knowing we fall short of our goals and your promise,
We come to you in contrition and ask forgiveness.
Move us from hopelessness to determination
So we live life more fully as you intended.
In the name of him who came to bring us new life
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
Leave us the hell alone and instead of spreading more lies from Supreme Leader Trump, why don’t you focus on real news.
Statement from Brian Sicknick’s family to Fox News
President Trump’s decision to pardon the individual who assaulted (Brian Sicknick) that day — and 1,500 other Jan 6th defendants — is a deep betrayal of justice and dark moment for our country.
Governor Phil Murphy
The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked shall perish
Psalm 1: 4-6
