Standing next to that pinnacle of reason Marjorie Taylor Greene Rep. Mo Brooks (R- Alabama) said he had sympathy for the man who threatened to blow up the Library of Congress, clearly a symbol of all that is wrong with America, such as education and learning.  This is the same Member of Congress who egged on the January 6 rioters while wearing body armor under his suit, Truly a brave man.

While Brooks rails about so-called socialism, his state has the lowest vaccination rate in the Nation. The U.S. Census put Alabama’s population at about 5.024 million or 54% of New Jersey’s 9, 288 million, but it has twice times the number of Covid infections.

And just two weeks ago Taylor Greene cheered Alabama residents as having the lowest vaccination rate in the country.  You can bet your bottom dollar those two have been vaccinated, body armor or not.  In the meantime, in Alabama  there’s a waiting list for ICU beds for unvaccinated infected persons.

Prayer for the Day

In the story made of dawn awaken in us a new spirit

Restoring our tired arms, tired legs, and our tired souls.

Open our eyes, our ears, and our minds to your wisdom,

As the day passes into night, our comfort being with you.

Disclose to us, O God, ways to overcome willful ignorance

Destroying us as a people fraught with fear.

In the name of him who overcomes fear,

Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.

Thoughts for the Day

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

                        Martin Luther King (1929-1968)

Nothing limits intelligence more than ignorance; nothing fosters ignorance more than one's own opinions; nothing strengthens opinions more than refusing to look at reality.

Sheri S. Tepper, American writer (1929-2016)

For wisdom is a breath of the power of God,

   And a pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty;

Therefore nothing defiled gains entrance into her,

For she is a reflection of the eternal light,

A spotless mirror of the working of God, and an image of God’s goodness.

                         Wisdom of Solomon 7: 25-26
