Stop the World!

Do you ever get up in the morning and not want to look at the news either on the internet or by the ld fashioned way of reading a paper?  If so, then certainly you share the same trepidation I have every morning.  Whether it’s reading that Steve Witkoff is coaching that butcher Putin or that spouses of USCs are being detained at their green card interviews in spite of the fact immigration law permits people who enter with a visa and marry a USC to apply for their green cards.

In San Diego, spouses of USCs are being arrested for overstaying their authorized stay, which is usually six months. Immigration law, however, permits those persons to apply for legal residence based on a marriage to a USC.  Mothers are now dragged away from their babies.  Nothing like claims of supporting “family values,” right?

To add insult to injury, US officials are trying to persuade Zelensky to give up more of Ukraine than Russia even now controls. Acceding to Russia’s demands of a reduced military size, elimination of European guarantees in place of our own, which are worthless in this administration, is nothing short of selling out Ukraine. There’s no light between Putin and the man he most admires – Stalin. It’s called historical amnesia.

Prayer for the Day

Feeling overwhelmed by news of the day, O God,

   We try to shut it out, especially at this time of year;

But we forget the baby that is coming to give us hope,

   Was born into a time of despair and hopelessness.

Let us not live only in or frustration and despondency,

   But work toward the promise of the realm of justice for all.

In the name of the One who gives us hope,

   Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.

Thoughts for the Day

I kind of feel betrayed, to be honest. We do everything that we can to protect and serve our country. And then they betray us by treating us like we've never done anything.

         Samuel Shasteen, a retired Staff Sergeant, whose first wife died of cancer, after

             his new wife was arrested at their green card interview in San Diego

Trump envoy Steve Witkoff, according to a transcript of the Oct. 14 call published by the [Blloomberg] news service, advised Putin’s foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov that Putin should call Trump to congratulate him for the Gaza peace deal, say Russia had supported it and that he respects the president as a man of peace.

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are God’s delight.
