It’s too early for Daylight Savings Time. The birds aren’t up yet. And it’s still cold with snow on the ground. It wasn’t that much, but after last weekend, I wanted to put the snow shovels away – actually, I did. What a surprise when the snow came down, but, I say to myself, it’s still only March, still winter. Too early for Daylight Savings time.
I know I’ll appreciate it later – like in May and June when the day becomes longer. The wildlife work on the clock set by nature – they don’t operate by clocks like we humans have become accustomed to doing.
The birds and deer will be in the yard soon, looking for something to supplement their diet because of the snow cover. And I’ll add apple peelings to the corn as well as more suet for the birds – they’ll need it until it begins to warm up. It’s still too early for Daylight Savings Time.
Prayer for the Day
You are a most surprising God, bringing us a last touch of winter,
At least we hope this snow is just a harbinger of spring;
Looking out onto peaceful scenes, we cannot help but wonder
How others are doing as they try to survive in the midst of war.
Grant, most merciful God, that the victims of war and violence
May find rescue and are able to live in peace.
In the name of him who is the source of peace,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
