It’s supposed to warm up today – all the way up to 32 degrees, if we’re lucky. And the rest of the week doesn’t look that bad, either, except for some possible snow showers. Now, what’s that supposed to mean? What it does mean is that we are paying more for electricity and power.
A recent poll by Tony Fabrizio, who has worked closely with the White House, showed. Much to their horror, that most Trump voters want solar, not oil or gas because solar ends up being cheaper. Solar also protects us from the huge demand data centers are making on electricity. In fact, some data centers are now using solar.
Speaking of data centers, Finland builds its data centers in old abandoned mines and some old bomb shelters. The heat generated from the centers are used to heat huge apartment complexes, thus making them environmentally positive rather than negative, and the former miners are trained to run them. Perhaps not a bad idea for old coal mines and their workers.
Prayer for the Day
Questioning how we live, we come to you, O God,
Asking how is it that we often ignore caring for your world?
But often we do not want to hear your response
For we know the answers spoken through prophets.
Write a new covenant on our hearts, O God,
A covenant of justice for what we have neglected.
In the name of the One who calls us to justice,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
The expansion of data centers in these states Texas, Virginia, Ohio) has resulted in a substantial increase in energy consumption. Data centers are energy-intensive by nature, operating 24/7 to ensure uninterrupted service. A single large facility can require upwards of 100 megawatts (MW) of power, equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 350,000 to 400,000 electric vehicles.
