You’re probably wondering why this is late. When I turned on the computer this morning, I had no internet. What I learn at times like these is that I have no patience for mechanical troubles. I can put up with lots of things going wrong, but losing internet is out of my control,
I had it last night. In fact, I began thinking last night what my morning message would be. I wonder if it was the fact that I actually dozed off at the computer last night and by mistake did something to shut off the internet. Who knows?
But now that I have been on hold for almost 30 minutes, I am beginning to lose faith that I’ll get it back this morning. I went downstairs to check the box. The light is green. My phone and the TV work so it must be something else. I confess that all I want a computer to do is to work. So, if I can’t get this our early, I’ll print It out, take it to the office and scan it. Why can’t God each me patience in a more convenient way?
Prayer for the Day
We rise in the morning o a new day and give you thanks,
For a new day embraces us with a host of possibilities;
Tenderize our hearts, O God, for there are so many needs around u,
And unseal our minds and the limits we draw for ourselves.
Expand our minds as we imagine the possibilities
Of living your kingdom into the future.
In the name of the One who gives imagination,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your imperfections but instantly set about remedying them – every day begin the new task.
- Francis de Sales
Experience, like a pale musician, holds
A dulcimer of patience in his hand
Elizabeth Barrett Browning, poet (1806-1861)
I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.
I keep the Lord always before me; because God is at my right hand,
I shall not be moved.
Psalm 16: 7-8
