We’re being told to get our flu shots for the other kinds of flu that an also debilitate us and make us weaker and more susceptible to this coronavirus. Noting that less than half of our state’s population gets a flu shot, State Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli on Tuesday warned of a ”twin-demic” if we ignore this simple advice.

Yes, and keep wearing those masks. I know sometimes it’s difficult to understand what someone is saying, so just politely ask that person to repeat the sentence. Don’t forget that the mask needs to cover the nose as well as the mouth. Some of those fancy ones keep sliding down which is incredibly frustrating, to be sure.

These nice cool mornings are perfect for a walk, a way to reconnect to the world God has given us. The fawns have lost their spots now but they still follow their mothers.  And rutting season is coming, so keep an eye out for that amorous buck looking to create a new generation.

Prayer for the Day

In the quiet of the morning renew our spirits, O Lord,

     And open our minds to new ways to find you, O God.

Open our senses to the glory of your creation

     And break the seal we create around our souls.

Center our lives in you, O God, for you are the center of all,

     A light of life in a world dark with death

In the name of him who shows us how to live,

         Even Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Thoughts for the Day

Never lose an opportunity to see something beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American essayist (1803–1882)

People are like stained-glass windows.  They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.

Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Swiss-American psychiatrist (1926–2004)

Praise the Lord, sun and moon;

     praise the Lord, all you shining stars!

Praise the Lord, you highest heavens

     and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord,

     for God commanded and they were created.

God established them forever and ever;

      fixing their bounds which cannot be passed.

Psalm 148: 3–6
