It’s Halloween. It’s also the last morning I need to wake up in the dark (If you can’t garden after work, what good is daylight savings time, anyway?) Oh, and it’s the last weekend before the midterms, an election which now carries the record for being the most expensive midterm. Don’t you wonder what good could have been done with all the money spent by candidates?
But finally, it’s also the weekend that now, Norway, that stolid Scandinavian country, has joined the ranks of (unmentionable) countries, like Somalia and Haiti, threatened with the loss of visas to the U.S. It seems that a certain president is still moping over the fact that he didn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize.
Scandinavians and Nordics, known for their sense of humor, however, are taking this in stride. Noting that Norway has some of the world’s most beautiful toilets, including the public toilet in Stegastein with a large window overlooking the Aurlandsfjord, the Visit Norway website features them on its tour through this home of incredible scenery. Beats those porta-potties we have, for sure.
Prayer for the Day
Let us not lose our sense and senses of who we should be, O God,
But let us feel your healing touch in our lives today;
Let us not be swayed by those who would narrow your vision
For we know your creation encompasses all peoples and things.
Broaden our minds and understanding of your righteousness,
So we share your justice with the world.
In the name of the One who opens the way,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
So, we heard some noise about ‘s...house country.’ What can we say, we do have some of the world’s most beautiful and spectacular toilets.

Human waste spreads deadly diseases. Toilets may seem like a mere convenience, but they save lives. Toilets provide sanitation, which is a human right, It’s nearly impossible to get out of poverty without sanitation.
UN statement regarding World Toilet Day, November 19.
Make no friends with those given to anger, and do not associate with hotheads,
Or you may learn their ways, and entangle yourself in a snare.
