A.A. Milne once wrote, “One of the advantages of being disorganized is that one is always finding surprising discoveries.”  More than being disorganized, the real problem I – and I suspect, many of us, have – is that I try to cram 48 hours into a 24-hour day.

But by 3 PM I was feeling pretty good, having accomplished  a good deal of what I had intended. Looking at the stack of papers next to my desk, much of which is composed of the articles from newspapers or parts of old magazines that I wanted to save, I thought clearly time to read them and see what should be saved or recycled. It’s amazing what you discover when you do this.

The problem is that at 3 PM when you sit down to read or do a project, in order to finish what you started, you should have begun at 9 AM – or earlier.  So by the time you’ve fed the cats, not to mention yourself, you wonder why you’ve only read six of the 14 old magazines you brought down to read.  Need to talk to God about this, for sure.

Prayer for the Day

More than for time, O God, we pray for patience with ourselves,
   For our efforts to squeeze more living in our days often fails;
More than knowledge, O Lord, we pray for understanding
   Broadening our hearts as well as our minds.
Grant, O Creator of day and night, the wisdom to accept limits
   And an appreciation for the rhythm of time.
In the name of the One who also rested,
    Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
