Before going to California to offer his expert advice on how to control the fires that are still raging, Donald Trump held an indoor rally in Nevada with maskless people standing shoulder to shoulder. His response to Governor Sisolak’s comment that “The President seems to have forgotten that this country is still in the midst of a global pandemic” was that he was “far away” from the people so he was not “at all concerned.”

How self-centered can someone be? Does not the President care that people in the audience may have transmitted this dread virus to others––or caught the virus?

Apparently not. Now that the CDC is under the control of political appointees rather than scientists, reports are being delayed and “edited,” a frightening fact admitted by Paul Alexander who stated that the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (MMWR) were nothing more than “hit pieces” on the administration. How do we know how many have actually died?

Prayer for the Day

Source of life and peace, who turns not away from your children,

Hear our prayer and give us the power to change hearts,

Turning hatred into love and fear into understanding.

Move us from the night of conflict to a day of peace

Turning vengeance into forgiveness and reconciliation

And retribution into mercy and grace.

In the name of him who came to share your love with all,

Even Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Thoughts for the Day

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.

Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister (1874–1965)

To tell a lie for cowardice, to tell a lie for gain, or to avoid deserved punishment—are all the blackest of black lies.

Emily Post, American write (1873–1960)

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,

a stronghold in times of trouble.

And those who know your name put their trust in you,

for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 9: 9–10
