It’s incredibly frustrating, to say the least. We’ve taken over a foreign country because it was seemingly easy to do so, set up at least one oil company in business there, we’re in a war that’s not a war according to those who are waging it, and now the IRS will go after schools that help minority students.
Where does this stop? After the current resident of the White House builds his triumphal arch replete with golden eagles? But what’s really frightening is the attempt to mess with the November elections. The White House is so frightened of losing seats in the House, possibly even he Senate, that it’s trying to gut the process of mail–in ballots.
News broke on Monday from a whistleblower raised serious questions about the ability of USPS to “monitor” where ballots will go. Federal District Judge Indira Taiwani put a halt on the plans pending a hearing. Then, of course, there’s the plan to use ICE at polling stations to “check” whether voters are citizens. What happens next?
Prayer for the Day
As storms rage about us and we fear our ship will take on water
Enable us, O Lord, to see through the mist of our daily lives;
As the sky shakes with thunder and we find ourselves overwhelmed,
Empower us. O God, so we stand for justice in these troublesome times.
Embolden us so we can protect what is most valuable to us,
And let not those who would destroy our democracy succeed.

Why is it you want U.S.P.S. to stop batches of ballots from your voters? You can decide you want those measures in your state. I don’t understand—you come to me and say, ‘We really want to have election integrity in our state decided by U.S.P.S.’?

Weaponizing the I.R.S. to attack colleges and universities that uphold and expand civil rights is outrageous. This is blatantly racist political coercion intended to deny minority students reparative opportunities to further their education.
