As the EPA has decided that it really doesn’t matter whether pie die as a result of air pollution or the fact that Wall street and Big Law have buckled under pressure to bail out of climate policies, there is one piece of good news. The US District Court for DC has granted a preliminary injunction allowing Empire Wind to continue construction of its wind farm off the coast of Long Island for clean energy.
US coal consumption has skyrocketed thanks to a turnaround in administration policy. Of course the coal barons profit while RFK’s HHS has cut black lung treatment programs, but who cares? They’re only peons in the machine of greed.
Empire must be a special target as Norwegian owned, and we all know who should have received the Nobel Peace Prize. It’s almost like a kid wanting a toy. Wind power is used throughout most of the Nordic region, powering homes and businesses in the many small communities that dot a rural landscape.
Prayer for the Day
Your breath, your wind gave us life, O God,
And still it continues to be a sign of your grace;
The heavens beam down into our world, O Lord,
Even as clouds and rain sustain our earth.
May we use your gifts wisely, protecting your creation,
So generations to come may than us for our care.
In the name of the One who manifests your grace,
Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
Generating energy from the wind does not release any carbon emissions. By replacing electricity generated from other sources such as fossil fuel power stations, wind energy can lead to an overall reduction in carbon emissions.

While U.S. investment in clean energy has boomed in recent years — reaching $279 billion last year — many large corporations have gone silent on climate change. On company earnings calls, mentions of words like climate and sustainability have plunged by 75 percent over the past year, according to a Bloomberg analysis.
David Golles in The New York Times (January 15, 2025)
Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honor and majesty, wrapped in light as with a garment.
You stretch out the heavens like a tent, setting the beams of your rooms on the waters,
You make the clouds your chariot, ridingon the wings of the wind
You make the winds your messengers, fire and flame your ministers.
Psalm 104: 1-4
