Here we go again, and it’s only Wednesday. First, in Houston yesterday masked ICE agents shot and killed a man during a traffic stop, claiming he had attempted to ram an ICE agent. Over the past year almost 20 shootings by ICE agents have the same story. In some cases, prosecutors have either dropped charges or judges have dismissed them. But in this case, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, here in the US for 35 years and in the process of legalizing his status, won’t face charges. He is dead.
In Georgia, U.S. District Judge William M. Ray II, a Trump appointee, blocked the DOJ’s demand for the names, addresses, and contact info for poll workers and volunteers in the 2020 election. Calling the demand “staggering” since it had no legitimate purpose.
Then there’s the photo of the young black woman on the D.C. Metro surrounded by dozens of masked members of Patriot Front, a white supremacist organization. Some patriots they are, masking themselves so people at home cannot see who they are. Our 1776 patriots didn’t mask; they faced danger, fought, and died. Nothing like cowardice.
Prayer for the Day
You who see injustice and call us to respond,
Open our eyes to the world around us;
You call us to be instruments of your righteousness
And to be your face of justice in the world.
Enable us to explore bold new approaches for justice
So we become the face of your call to righteousness.
In the name of the One who is our strength,
Even Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
Everyone, whether you support the President or you do not, or whether you believe the 2020 Election was fair or believe that it was not, should be concerned about the DOJ’s ability to utilize the power of the Grand Jury to appropriate your private information without a legitimate purpose.
U.S. District Judge William M. Ray ii, quashing the subpoena issued by DOJ
My father has been in this country for nearly 35 years working in construction to provide for myself, my two brothers, and my mother. ... My father did not deserve this.

Hear a just cause, O Lord, attend to my cry;
Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit;
From you let my vindication come; let your eyes see the right.
